Liverpool International Song Contest ‘for Kindness’
In October 2020, Anna Bournholt Prior and Dr Shamendar Talwar launch the Liverpool International Song Contest with the theme of kindness

Jimmy Coburn Lauches Official Contest Theme
To kick off the contest, Jimmy Coburn, who plays John Lennon in the widely-acclaimed tribute band The Cavern Club Beatles, was asked to write and self produce a “song for kindness” by the organisers of the #KIND20. The movement amassed 6.5 million supporters in 22 countries since within weeks across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Liverpool’s Cavern Club is the cradle of British pop music. Impressively, 60 years after its foundation, it survives and thrives as a contemporary music venue.

Through seven eventful decades, before, during and after The Beatles this legendary cellar has seen its share of setbacks yet has played a role in each epoch of music, from 1950s jazz to 21st century indie rock, the most famous music club in the world!.

Daniel Xander joins tuff.earth
Daniel has worked in music industry as an engineer and producer since 2002, working with a wide range of artists such as The Lotus Eaters, The Real People, Anthony Russell and Becky Hill. Starting out his career as an engineer for Phil Coxon (OMD) at Liverpools Parr Street Studios, Daniel has worked as a project manager for labels such as Sony and UMG, also appearing as a contibutor for TV shows such as The X Factor.

Daniel’s ambition with TUFF is to unite people through music; delivering engaging and immersive workshops that act as a safe space for people to share thier creative visions, and collaborate with people of different faiths.

TUFF Music projects are tailored to the needs of each local area, maintaining a grassroots nature within a national framework. The three pillars of TUFF Music are:

Outreach: International Song Contest, reaching out to artists around the globe to raise awareness of mental health in music

Education: TUFF Music Syllabus, helping grass roots artists to develop their craft and ‘Plan, Produce and Promote’ their material and artistic works

Support: Ethical Agency & Record Label, providing ongoing support and infrastructure for grass roots artists

The intelligent matching algorithm of gigmit.com is designed to help artists find better gig opportunities and promoters to find the perfect artist for their event. The platform creates a secure and fair business environment by automatically generating deal sheets for successful bookings.

James Holt declared 2021 winner
James Holt’s song, ‘Make My Day’, was judged as the world’s best new song of hope and optimism, beating 1562 entries from 18 countries and nine other finalists.

The final was held exactly a year later in Liverpool’s Cavern club, the venue that he and the other Beatles made famous.

James featured in ITV Granada’s Introducing Series, which showcases the region’s best musical talent.

TUFF Launches ‘The Road to Nashville’, season two of the Liverpool International Song Contest
A global historic project has been launched, linking Nashville & Liverpool together to support musicians & songwriters by advancing mental health awareness while promoting diversity and understanding. Live-streamed simultaneously in both Nashville USA at 10:30 CST & Liverpool U.K. at 16:30 GMT on May 9, 2022, a press conference hosted by the BBC’s Claire Simmo announced a joint initiative by both mayors from the biggest music cities in the world. The mission is to advocate for mental health while also championing the search for the best songwriters worldwide.

The Road to Nashville – Liverpool International Song Contest 2022 is a seven-month project, which highlights original material by global songwriters & musicians with a unique infrastructure to support them with mental health services and counseling, as well as submitting their songs throughout the process of the international song contest.
